The CEO of AT&T (an American mobile phone network), Randall Stephenson, has suggested that Apple's iPad will be a WiFi driven product.
He says it's highly unlikely people are going to take out another mobile phone contract.
The main problem with this, as stated at Mashable is, WiFi connections are easily lost. So when trying to work on the move it will cause major problems, also if you need to send sensative data it's probably best not to do it over an open connection.
Having said that, I personally don't feel the iPad is a 'true' tablet device and therefore I wouldn't work on it, I would save that for an actual notebook or desktop.
For me the iPad is, as a lot of people say, a big iPhone so I won't be getting one.
